How did you lower your subscription rate? I would love to charge around $36 for my subscription, but when I tried to turn on paid subscriptions today, it said the minimum is $50!
I wonder if that message is a leftover from when $50 was the floor. Maybe just turn it on and then go back to Dashboard → Settings → Payments and adjust the price.
Wow! Thank you so much for enjoying and sharing my publication!
I'm going to tell you something I don't usually tell people -
In the tenth grade, we were given a provincial literacy test - which was a requirement to graduate.
I failed! I took it badly and had to do an extra course, which I aced.
Writing here in Substack has been an incredible way for me to share my world. The fact that other people both find it readable and enjoy it makes my heart full ❤️
Thanks for stopping by and for sharing that Amy. I failed Geometry in the tenth grade too, but in my case that was because I simply didn't go to class, and when I did I showed up super stoned. Duh. I'm so happy you're finding expression here. I just read your piece about "Homelust," and that really rings a bell for me. I have been a lifelong traveler and as proud as I've been of being a San Francisco native, I was always obsessed with getting away. Now, I've start....ed to embrace that same feeling of homelust. I still love going places, but I also LOVE being right here. As great as travel is, it's also a lot of disruption to any sort of regular rhythm of life. Thanks for your writing!
By the way -- I've been to Romania! Drove through from Hungary to Bulgaria in 2007, and spend several days along the way. I have a story about traffic on the ring-road around Bucharest, perhaps that would make a good guest post!
I can't quite tell what your comment means, but...I did see Bruce play once, here in San Francisco or somewhere nearby. I'm not a Bruce fan per se, I mean, I respect the guy for his work and like some of his songs, but my girlfriend at the time and her mom were both super fans. The three of us went together. She shows up in chapter 14 of my memoir, which will be coming out next week here →
Thanks for mentioning my Substack, Bowen! BTW, it looks like we live somewhat close to each other. I’m up in Sonoma proper.
oh hey, nice! we should get together sometime. My parents live up there...
Add me to the list next year: hopefully the fiancée and I will be moving back to el Cerrito
Nice!
Just checked out your Stack and subscribed! I live in San Rafael... 😉
Hey, that's so awesome, thank you Marika! I'm on a houseboat in Sausalito :)
Amazing. Pre-pandemic, I worked at an office right above the restaurant Le Garage
What a small Substack world! I foresee a North Bay hangout in our future
I've been thinking of that too... collecting names!
Love how honest you are about the podcast! That “growth mentality” is a bear!
I appreciate you noticing that Marika. Yeah, it’s hard not to get caught up in it, and it generally leaves me feeling not good.
