I'm a new subscriber! I really want to explore the ideas of intuition and deciding nothing. I never knew 'decide' means to cut off the possibilities, but it makes so much sense. Also, I like your writing.

Welcome! and thanks for being here Braxton. That's one way of thinking about "decide," but yes, it comes from the "classical Latin dēcīdere to cut off" (OED)—and, has come to have such a strong connotation of conscious consideration and analysis that it's easy to lose sight of the possibility of 'cutting off' branches that have less resonance in a more intuitive way.
