My pleasure. BTW - Do you happen to know anyone expert in Substack whom I could engage (pay) to teach me?

This kind of self gratification doesnt scare me as much as the AI audio/ binaural/ meditation/ streaming/ asmr mumbojumbo. Consider that people are walking around listening to this stuff all day.

“My baseline of self-awareness, intuitive function, and basic well-being is so much higher these days, and those all serve to contravene this addictive drift towards cognitive dissonance and confusion.”

AI porn absolutely is crypto crack. I also lost myself in a dark hole of this kind of self gratification. I’m three weeks free and not planning to ever go back. I’m really concerned about the ever-improving nature of this tech. Hyper-convenience and hyper-stimulation is a truly insidious combination. Offer a generation of young men the possibility of endless novelty, the ability to have sex with self-created or extremely valuable women with endless variation… I foresee most of that generation of young men becoming lost in that fog. Truly daunting.

I love the idea of writing one’s philosophy. You’re certainly the one to guide that workshop. With that, the following workshop is a deeper awareness of one’s intuition. I’d sign up for both of those.

This is a great post! I appreciate your detailed asks for comments, so I'll indulge.

1. Trash. We don't need AI and we shouldn't be using it. It doesn't deserve our energy, our water, or our time.

2. Nope, only the kind of imagined relationship we can have with any other anthropomorphized object.

4. Definitely, as an ADHDer my attention often seems out of my control, and I tend to follow patterns of obsession/apathy (which makes writing consistently a healthy challenge). Right now I think I'm mostly ok, especially living with a partner and having a stable job. Without those anchors, I know from experience, I'd be much more adrift and vulnerable to those black holes wherever they appear.

3. The best bad thing that happened to me was the church. I spent 25 years of my life completely devoted to institutions that saw me as a project at best and a danger at worst. However, I also gained so much from being raised in that tradition and with that worldview. I could write whole essays on it... in fact I think I will.

Thanks Peter!

1) I increasingly agree. We'll all have to make those choices on a personal basis. I'm much less fascinated (and less impressed) by it now.

2) 100%, but, and, I have found "AI" useful as a stand-in for research and even basic therapy-type questions.

4) yeah, stable partner helps so much!
